Yes - absolutely not by choice. They were told by a nurse who found out while I was unconscious so yeah...I had no control over it which didn't help.
They initially flipped and insisted I saw a psychiatrist and emptied my room of anything they could find. They also got a massive clear plastic box and filled it with plasters etc that was 1, not on the same scale as what I was doing, so useless 2, they would know I'd taken things out 3, confusing - because what did they think I'd done before they knew?
Then we didn't talk about it.
