What are your fears? m/t
« on: February 04, 2012, 08:47:43 PM »
I have some really irrational fears, and some others which are not so irrational. I find myself getting irritated, frustrated and embarrassed over these fears and have decided to try and confront them rather than deny them, even if its just a case of acknowledging them to start with, if that makes sense? Feel free to add your own too.

Boats and water
Being out after dark
Leaving my straighteners or the iron on
Something happening to the minnies or mr

There are more, im sure i ll be adding to this list  ::)

That I'm going to be in a road accident and get trapped

That there's going to be a fire at home

That Henry and Georgina are going to die young

I'm trying to not let my fears stop me from doing things but it can be hard at times.
When you feel like letting go, hold on.

Courage does not always roar.
Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
"I will try again tomorrow".

Since i have been living alone I have a fear of leaving doors unlocked at night.
Each night I check that they are locked before I go to bed, but then wake during the night unsure whether i did lock them,
so have to get up & double check.
Sometimes I think i'm almost still asleep when I am doing it.  ::-\:

For me it's

1. Daughter and Hubby having an accident
2. Spiders
3. Fish
4. Fainting in public
5. Making my daughter grow up to be like me
6. Getting trapped in crowded public places

I know theres more but I can't think of them right now.

TH I really sympathise with being embarrassed by irrational fears, I feel it too.

Mine include, but are not limited to, drowning, suffocating, being trapped physically with no voice, going down hill on a push bike, dead ends and when lights flicker it makes me panic, though I like candle light/fire light.

The massive one is my mum dying whilst im not in the county/country. Or her being killed in front of me, I have horriffic nightmares about this.  :-X

I have many fears, some of which I can't share, but the biggest are:

1. bf dying
2. sister dying
3. never being a mummy
4. being made homeless
5. having a car accident and killing someone else, whilst living myself

1. Being underground/anywhere without windows
2. Failure - to the extent that a lot of the time I refuse to do things out of fear I won't succeed or be the best. I'd honestly rather not try then try and fail
3. Ice/snow when out on foot - terrified of breaking something major again

But you and I, we've been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late

Getting what I deserve in terms of complications from extensive mismanagement of diabetes (ultimately being blind and not seeing my daughter get married or see any of my childrens babies)

Having to keep living for other people and never being content or happy with me being me.

caving (though not sure you can count that as I'd never ever actually even try it)

My children being hurt in anyway but mostly scared about them drowning or being SA

Losing my husband through my own actions, or losing him full stop.

The biggest fears are most selfish though, simply getting on the scales and working out how i am going to live with THAT number.

Being a failure - that I am so damaged that I'll never succeed at having a normal life because I'm too stupid and scared to try.
One or both of my parents dying and not being able to get to them - they live in another country to me, this is a long standing one, I used to have recurring nightmares about them dying when I was younger.
Being up high - makes me feel very uncomfortable.
Enclosed spaces make me panic.

Good for you trying to face your fears :) I used to be terrified of flying, then I did a course, faced the fear, and now it's not so bad, I've even flown by myself! It's very freeing :)
And this is not my face
And this is not my life
And there is not a single thing here
I can recognise
