A NOTTINGHAM charity wants to raise awareness of self-harming as part of a national campaign.
The National Self Harm Network is one of the organisations involved in the Self Harm Awareness Day on Monday.
The registered charity offers services across the county to support people directly affected by self-harm. It aims to help them explore reasons for their self-harming and to seek appropriate professional help.
Staff offer training to professional organisations, universities, charities and user groups.
The network is launching a new helpline running from 7pm to 11pm on 0800 6226000.

they sure did get their knickers in a twist. Glad TIN ran the article. Only met 1 person who knew about NSHN and she worked in the psych part of the QMC in Notts.

Organisations that support those that self harm are not in competition, the cause is the same for all. The more support available to those that self harm and their friends, family and carers the better.

That's what I put "competition" in inverted commas...because you're right, it shouldn't be seen as competition - just that Harmless didn't seem that impressed that NSHN had got coverage...and I didn't understand their comment about SH Awareness Day because nowhere in the article did it say that NSHN had created the day!

It weren't me Good to see coverage though...Mr MH Professional of the Year 2009 has had articles in our local paper in the past on SH awareness day
